PMO Lead / Project Manager

Step5 are part of the TXM Group and specialise in delivering large-scale IT transformation projects and tech consultancy services across a range of industries. We are looking for an experienced PMO Lead / Project Manager to join us during this exciting growth phase. With a strong background in IT transformation, ideally within government projects, you will lead our Programme Management Office, driving efficient processes, governance, and high-quality project delivery while maintaining an excellent client-facing approach.


About you

We are looking for solid experience in project and program management within tech and digital transformations. The ideal candidate will have applied knowledge of global project management methodologies and proficiency in MS Office, MS Teams, and tools like MS Project and Power BI. Familiarity with risk and issue management frameworks and tools is essential, along with strong communication skills to influence and engage stakeholders effectively. Leadership qualities such as critical thinking, relationship management, and team collaboration are key to success in this role. Adaptability and a proactive, "can-do" attitude are highly valued as this hybrid role also requires travel across the UK to visit client locations.


The role

  • Establish and manage the Programme Office, aligning with Step5 methodologies and client needs.
  • Define terms of reference and implement robust processes for document, risk, schedule, and change management.
  • Oversee governance, program cadence, and automation of P3M/O activities.
  • Automate reporting for early project deviation detection and cost-effective corrections.
  • Maintain data-driven reporting for performance tracking, ensuring data quality and consistency.
  • Facilitate project reviews from initiation to closure, tracking progress and actions.
  • Oversee financial reporting, budget monitoring, and variance analysis.
  • Manage resource allocation and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Maintain transparent stakeholder communication and integrate PMO with client systems.
  • Support change management strategies and execution.
  • Advise on best practices, champion continuous improvement, and guide junior team members.
  • Build collaboration platforms and document repeatable processes for team scalability.
  • Engage with clients, vendors, and stakeholders while collaborating with Step5 leadership and cross-functional teams globally.
