About the Role

We are looking for a Java Developer with expertise in Kafka and Kubernetes/OpenShift to join the Observability and Analytics team within the Tooling Services organization. You will play a crucial role in enhancing and scaling the Observability Platform, focusing on stream processing, containerized infrastructure, and platform reliability.

Key Responsibilities

✔️ Manage and enhance Kafka ecosystem components (Kafka Streams, Kafka Connect, KSQLDB) in production environments.

✔️ Deploy and maintain workloads in Kubernetes/OpenShift, ensuring scalability and high availability.

✔️ Apply DevOps and SRE principles to improve platform reliability, automation, and self-service capabilities.

✔️ Troubleshoot complex issues in distributed systems, particularly related to Kafka, Kubernetes, and large-scale data platforms.

✔️ Mentor and support team members by sharing best practices and technical expertise.

Required Skills & Experience

✅ Java (17/21) & Spring Boot – Strong backend development skills.

✅ Apache Kafka – In-depth knowledge of Kafka components (Producers, Consumers, Brokers, Topics).

✅ Kafka Streams – Expertise in real-time stream processing.

✅ Kafka Connect & KSQLDB – Experience integrating Kafka with other systems and writing SQL queries on Kafka streams.

✅ Kubernetes & OpenShift – Hands-on experience with containerized deployments.

✅ ELK Stack – Operating and maintaining Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana.

✅ DevOps Tools – Experience with Jenkins, ArgoCD, Git/Bitbucket, and Ansible.

✅ Linux – Strong understanding of system administration and troubleshooting.

✅ Infrastructure Management – Ability to operate and optimize on-premises compute, storage, and networking.
