Who Are We

Over the next 2 years, Bree is aiming to be the cheapest and best provider of short term credit to the 20 million people in Canada who live paycheck to paycheck. Over the next 5 years, we hope to build one of the most important FinTechs in Canada through additional financial services products that you will help define. For the near term, our focus is singular - make our core product the best short term lending solution this country has seen.

We are at 8-figures of annualized revenue, growing double digit monthly, profitable, and have had 0 voluntary employee churn. We were part of Y Combinator in 2021 and raised a $2M seed round shortly after.

Job Description

We’re seeking a Full Stack Software Engineer who will be instrumental in designing and developing new products for our rapidly growing consumer base. In this role, you’ll collaborate across the organization to build highly scalable applications and services that go beyond our core offerings—ensuring we continue delivering life-changing financial solutions with speed, reliability, and a top-notch user experience.

Qualifications

• Intermediate to advanced experience with React Native, React and backend development
• Product sense: Ability to understand what really makes a product appealing, and how to think from the user's perspective
• Extreme ownership: You are someone who routinely does not need to be managed to get things shipped and takes a lot of pride in your work
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2+ years of experience as a backend engineer, designing, building, and maintaining scalable serverless systems. Exceptions apply for hyper-talented new grads.
• Strong command of TypeScript, with the ability to write clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services, particularly AWS Lambda for building serverless applications.
• Practical knowledge of PostgreSQL for managing backend data and APIs.
• Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills to debug, optimize, and scale backend systems effectively.
