Are you a cyber security expert with a passion for security and safety in the government sector?

QLeave is seeking a Senior Cyber Security Analyst to join our high-performing Information, Technology and Innovation team in Brisbane’s North.

This flexible, full-time role offers the opportunity to provide specialised cyber security expertise, advice and support to enable the safe delivery of QLeave’s IT systems, while contributing to QLeave’s mission of supporting Queensland’s workers.

About The Role

As the Senior Cyber Security Analyst, you will work with key stakeholders and the ITI team to improve the cyber security maturity and resilience of IT systems and the QLeave IT environment as a whole. Reporting to the Team Leader, ICT Services and Security, your focus will include:

  • leading and undertaking activities to support the delivery of cyber security incident response exercises
  • conducting and providing cyber defence operation service with a focus to streamline, automate, and ensure end to end delivery of excellent customer services for enterprise systems within QLeave
  • educating QLeave staff in cyber awareness and best practices to keep QLeave data safe


Your Responsibilities

  • build, develop and deliver effective cyber defence service management reports and cyber security incident management reports and provide expert advice to management and executives
  • provide day-to-day cyber security event triage, threat analysis, and incident response activities and document and report on cyber security issues and emerging trends
  • manage customer requests to ensure appropriate prioritisation, risk-based consideration, and provide appropriate recommendations to resolve the engagements/escalations
  • maintain and continuously improve the Information Security Management System (ISMS) and participate in its annual audit
  • establish and maintain highly effective working relationships with other staff within ITI to ensure the alignment and integration of operational services, processes, and service levels across ITI
  • provide effective cybersecurity, change management, capacity planning, incident management, risk management and continuity planning utilising best practices in systems support and service delivery, using industry best practice frameworks and standards
  • provide expert advice in the development of requirements, specifications, and business cases to provide solutions, options analysis, and cost / benefits assessment for future ICT investment opportunities

For This Role, We Will Consider How Well You

  • provide advice to senior management and committees in relation to cyber security risks, and controls and actions to mitigate those risks
  • exhibit well-developed interpersonal, written and oral communication skills including the ability to negotiate, advise, influence others and work collaboratively with people to make decisions.
  • establish your knowledge of IT fundamentals, concepts, and frameworks and one or more cyber security technologies and operations, including security control tools such as SIEM, Anti-Virus, Proxy, Firewall etc.
  • demonstrate your ability to maintain current knowledge in the ever-changing cyber security threat landscape and threat actors' tactics, techniques, and procedures.
  • show strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve technical issues and deliver cyber defence services to customers.
  • demonstrate your ability to meet service delivery targets and implement quantifiable service improvements by coordinating multiple tasks within agreed priorities, time frames and working unsupervised.


Qualifications

While there are no mandatory qualifications for this role, the following knowledge, skills, and practical experience would be beneficial or qualifications in the following would be favourably regarded:

  • Information Security Fundamentals (GISF)
  • Information Security Management System (ISMS – IS18 – ISO 27001)
  • Australian Signals Directorate Essential 8 Cyber Security maturity model
  • CompTIA Security+
