Position: Application Delivery Network Engineer

Role Purpose:

We are looking for an Application Delivery Network Engineer to work as part of the Application Delivery Team within the Platform Engineering and Cyber Security area. Reporting to the Cyber Security Platform manager the successful candidate will work to provide highly available websites to our customers, by employing top-of-the-class load balancing, DNS and Content Delivery Network services.

As a senior member of the team, you will be leading technical directions, working closely with other teams within and without Platform Engineering and Cyber Security areas (Network team, Architects, application development teams). You will be responsible for engaging directly with senior stakeholders and socializing the tools and services provided by Application Delivery team to the wider IT team through showcases and workshops.

You will act as a mentor for members of your team as well as developers from other teams and be proactive in defining and promoting best practices.

You will act as a point of reference also for external technical stakeholders leading the technical analysis for services integration and tools external exposure.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provision and maintain Load Balancer both in on-prem and cloud scenario and work with application development teams to implement and update configurations.
• Work closely with application development teams and the performance guidance to ensure Application Delivery systems are well understood and configurations are properly designed and implemented.
• Work closely with Architects and Cyber Security teams to ensure Application Delivery systems

are properly designed and they are compliant with the guidelines for scalability, reliability,

availability and security.

• Provision and maintain CDN and work with application development teams to implement and update configurations.
• Provision and maintain Proxies both in on-prem and cloud scenario.
• Configure and maintain private and public DNS.
• Create, monitor and renew public and private certificates.
• Design, implement and maintain automations related to provisioning and configurations deployment; you will have a focus on reducing the toil in team’s activities tackling repetitive task through the usage of automation.
• Review junior team members’ work and provide mentoring and pairing time.
• Work with application development teams, Architects, Cyber Security and brand teams (external) to define and implement solutions to integrate services and expose internal tools, assuring compliance with InfoSec guidelines.
• Work with Monitoring and NOC teams to define and implement monitoring and support procedures for Application Delivery systems.

Skills and Experience:

The ideal candidate has a degree in Computer Science or similar and has gained 2-3 years of experience working in medium or large companies

Required Skills:

• 3+ year experience with network load balancing systems design and implementation (F5 BigIP platform).
• Good knowledge of written and spoken English.
• Excellent knowledge of TCP/IP networking and routing concepts and HTTP/HTTPS protocol details.
• Excellent knowledge with DNS concepts and experience in DNS implementation;
• Excellent knowledge of SSL certificate workflow.
• 3+ year experience with HTTP/HTTPS proxy, reverse proxy, and cache systems design and implementation (Apache Traffic Server, HAProxy, NGINX).
• Experience with Identity Provider integration and authentication protocols(SAML, LDAP,

Kerberos).

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Good background in Linux systems.

The following will be considered as a plus:

• Experience with high-traffic E-Commerce platforms.
• Familiarity in AWS services and technologies (AWS Solution Architect certification preferred -Associate level).
• Experience with Akamai (or other CDN provider) services.
• Knowledge of modern Configuration Management tools (Ansible, Chef).
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools (Grafana, Kibana, Dynatrace).
• Knowledge of CI/CD platforms (Jenkins, GitLab, GitHub,...) and experience in managing pipeline for Infrastructure as Code and configuration management
• Excellent scripting skills (Bash, Python, Ruby, PHO, NodeJS).
• Agile methodology and DevOps principles.
