Our client, a large complex Queensland Government organisation, are currently seeking a Change Manager to join an exciting transformation program.

The Project

The Financial Management Project will focus on enhancing the Infrastructure (Built) Services Division financial management processes to drive greater accuracy, efficiency, and transparency in financial operations.

This role is needed to bring change management expertise to the internal project team. The successful candidate in this role will collaborate with the embedded consultancy resources and work with stakeholders across the Division to analyse the current change initiatives and work with stakeholders to foster and embed project outcomes with senior leaders through to frontline staff.

Accountabilities

The role reports to the Senior Project Manager. It will involve a considerable amount of stakeholder engagement and consultation. The change manager will be operating in an environment of limited established change management practices. Therefore, the ability to adapt, to be proactive in problem solving and to work effectively within the team and autonomously will be crucial for success.

The change manager will be expected to utilise change frameworks and coaching to support change initiatives, will have a growth mindset and be dedicated to and participate in continuous improvement workstreams.

Accountabilities Include:

Change Planning and Strategy:

  • Develop comprehensive change management strategies that align with the organisation's goals and objectives.
  • Create and maintain detailed change plans, timelines, and budgets.
  • Identify potential risks and obstacles related to change initiatives and proactively develop mitigation plans.
  • Develop and implement foundational change management processes and frameworks tailored to the Division's needs, ensuring scalability for future use

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Identify key stakeholders impacted by the change and develop engagement plans for each group.
  • Establish clear lines of communication with stakeholders, ensuring that their concerns and feedback are addressed effectively.

Communication And Training:

  • Develop and execute communication plans that keep all stakeholders informed of the changes, progress, and milestones.
  • Coordinate the development and delivery of training materials and programs to equip employees with the necessary skills and knowledge for the change.

Change Implementation:

  • Oversee the execution of change initiatives, monitoring progress and adjusting strategies as necessary.
  • Ensure that all changes are implemented with minimal disruption to daily operations.

Resistance Management:

  • Identify sources of resistance to change and Develop strategies to mitigate resistance by leveraging change champions and providing targeted coaching
  • Provide guidance and support to leaders and teams dealing with resistance.

Evaluation And Feedback:

  • Establish metrics and key performance indicators (KPls) to measure the success of change initiatives.
  • Gather feedback from employees and stakeholders to continuously improve change management processes

Documentation And Reporting:

  • Maintain detailed records of change initiatives, progress, and outcomes.
  • Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior management and stakeholders.

Key skills, qualifications and experience required;

  • Business Management/Business Administration or other qualification relevant to the role.
  • Proven experience in transformation projects, preferably in government or education sectors
  • Certification in change management (e.g., Prosci, ADKAR).
  • Experience in business transformation and change management initiatives.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
