Senior Backend Engineer

I’m working with an innovative and fast-growing technology company looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to help build and optimize their high-performance infrastructure. This role offers the chance to work on cutting-edge technology, contribute to a highly collaborative team, and make a real impact in a dynamic environment.

Location:

• London, UK (preferred) or UTC ±3 time zones
• Hybrid work structure – ideally spending 3-4 days per week in the office for a collaborative environment

Role Overview:

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you’ll be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend systems that power key business applications. You’ll collaborate closely with product teams, contribute to technical strategy, and ensure performance, reliability, and security across the platform.

Key Responsibilities:

• Backend Development: Architect, build, and optimize backend services and APIs that integrate seamlessly with front-end applications.
• Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, designers, and product managers to define project requirements and deliver high-quality features.
• Performance & Scalability: Ensure systems are resilient, scalable, and optimized for efficiency through best practices in data storage, cloud infrastructure, and system monitoring.
• Code Quality & Testing: Write clean, maintainable code with a strong focus on automated testing, security, and reliability.
• Innovation & Improvement: Contribute to technical discussions, implement best practices, and help refine the overall engineering culture.
• Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Diagnose and resolve technical issues to ensure seamless platform performance.

What We’re Looking For:

• 3+ years of experience in backend engineering or a similar role.
• Strong programming skills in TypeScript & Rust and experience building complex software systems.
• Proven ability to design and deploy scalable, distributed systems with high reliability and performance.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to translate business requirements into maintainable code.
• Excellent communication skills, with experience working closely with cross-functional teams.
• Passion for emerging technologies, including blockchain and decentralized systems.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Experience working in a startup or fast-paced tech environment.
• Knowledge of additional programming languages.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD, cloud infrastructure (AWS, Terraform, ArgoCD).
• Exposure to Web3, blockchain wallets, or indexing technologies.
