We are looking for a DevOps Engineer with strong experience in maintaining and supporting SaaS infrastructure. This role focuses on infrastructure maintenance, upgrades, and support activities to ensure the stability and security of our product. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with Ruby on Rails ecosystems, Linux systems engineering, infrastructure automation, and CI/CD pipelines.

This is a critical role for keeping our infrastructure secure and up-to-date by addressing security vulnerabilities, upgrading dependencies, and migrating systems. You will work on infrastructure modernization efforts, including migrating Jenkins to Buildkite, upgrading databases (MongoDB, MySQL, Redis), and transitioning servers from CentOS7 to Rocky Linux 8.

This role includes participation in a 24/7 on-call rotation to ensure system availability and quick incident resolution. Candidates must be prepared to respond to critical infrastructure issues outside of regular working hours.

Responsibilities


  • Maintain and support the Swiftype product infrastructure, ensuring system stability and security
  • Address gem vulnerabilities by upgrading dependencies based on Snyk reports
  • Migrate Jenkins instances to Buildkite to improve CI/CD workflows
  • Upgrade key components
  • Manage Linux system administration tasks, including migrating CentOS7 servers to Rocky Linux 8
  • Perform weekly OS package security upgrades to maintain system security
  • Implement and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform or Chef
  • Participate in on-call rotations and respond to incidents as needed
  • Continuously improve CI/CD pipelines and automate deployment processes
  • Maintain strong written documentation for system changes, upgrades, and processes


Requirements


  • Experience with Ruby on Rails ecosystem or strong SaaS development experience
  • Hands-on Linux systems engineering experience
  • Expertise in Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Chef, or similar CM tools)
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Buildkite, etc.)
  • Previous experience in an on-call support role
  • Proven experience in remote team environments
  • Strong written communication skills for documentation and collaboration


Nice to have


  • Experience with Elastic Stack (ELK) for logging and monitoring
  • Knowledge of Nagios for system monitoring
  • Familiarity with Chef for configuration management
  • Hands-on experience with databases (MySQL, MongoDB)
  • Knowledge of web servers (Nginx) and CDN architectures
  • Jenkins experience for CI/CD workflows
