The ideal candidate will be responsible for recruitment efforts, new hire orientation and onboarding, employee termination, payroll and benefits, company policy and procedure adherence. In addition, you will build strong relationships with our company's managers in order to help them with their human resource needs.
Responsibilities
Team
- Work with the Assistant General Manager of Administration in developing and executing Health & Safety programs within the Lodge in accordance with Lodge policies, practices and procedures and yearly goals.
- Oversees the Joint Health and Safety Committee, including; scheduling meetings, ensuring monthly completion of workplace inspections, monthly health and safety focus.
- Prepare reports and analyze data for trends in relation to Health and Safety.
- Responsible for the promotion of a safe workplace which is achieved by understanding the obligations listed in the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
- In the event of an injury, completes accident investigations, including preparing Modified Work Agreements, completion and submission of WSIB forms, and ensuring Pack Member’s early and safe return to work.
- Supports the medical leave process ensuring understanding and compliance by both Leaders and Pack Members.
- Manages all requested leaves including Maternity Leave, Parental Leave, Critical Illness Leave, etc.
- Manages Pack Member sick day program in partnership with the Assistant General Manager of Administration.
- Assists Pack and Leaders with interpretation of various policies, benefits, and payroll practices.
- Supports the Sr. Payroll Manager as a backup for full cycle payroll processing and benefits administration.
- Demonstrate an ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with Leaders, Pack Members, peers, the general public and guests.
- Maintains Pack Member confidence and protects operations by keeping Human Resource information confidential.
- Establishes and maintains department standards with a focus on exceptional service.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
- Works as a collaborative and supportive member of the Human Resources Department; ability to take the most effective role.
- Contributes to department and Lodge mission and goals.
- Keeps areas in like-new condition, website ready.
- Varied work hours including some weekends and evenings
Guest
- Ensures guests are greeted and acknowledged consistently, adhering to the 10/5 Rule.
- Communicates with guests in a professional and friendly manner.
Financial
- Ability to ensure legal and policy compliance with the support of the HR Team.
- Assists in payroll processing by inputting new hires, transfers, terminations, changes in job classifications, deductions, merit increases, tracking vacation, sick and personal time in ADP.
- Has a full understanding of the payroll process and pay cycle reports in order to run a pay cycle.
- Meets operational standards by contributing information to strategic plans and review; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems.
- Evaluate, create and implement efficiencies for improved operational and service standards.
Qualifications
- Human Resources Degree or Diploma; CHRP designation or currently working towards attaining preferred.
- Proficient in health & safety legislation, OHSA and regulations.
- Proficient in payroll & benefits. Experience with ADP Workforce Now & Workforce Manager an asset.
- Proficient in the return-to-work process and WSIB administration.
- Knowledge of relevant employment legislation.
- Experience applying federal and provincial regulations to proper classification of Pack Members.
- Understands HR processes and procedures and can deliver clear information to Pack Members and general public inquiries.
- Ability to identify problems, evaluate facts and formulate sound solutions.
- Proven ability to compose memos, correspondence, agreements, and other professional documents.
- Skilled at preparing statistical and written reports with varying degrees of complexity and detail for Leadership.
- Superior knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software (MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Share Point, Adobe).
- Superior time management and multitasking skills with the ability to remain flexible to assist with unexpected projects.
- Can define own role, take on responsibilities, and manage priorities with minimal guidance.
- Consistent and reliable; can be trusted to handle a high level of responsibility.
- Superior organizational skills, keeps files and work area organized. Maintains a comprehensive library of reference and historical data.
- Proven ability to maintain security and confidentiality of Pack Member information
- Excellent verbal communicator – speaks clearly and provides appropriate amounts of information to answer general questions. Is able to present all answers in a positive manner. Possesses exceptional interpersonal communication skills.
