Core Network Engineer

Job Title: Core Network Engineer - Telco/Service Provider

Contract: 6-Month Contract

Role Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled Core Network Engineer with strong experience in telecommunications and service provider networks to support a large-scale MPLS L2/L3 VPN migration project. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, and troubleshooting of MPLS networks in a complex service provider environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support MPLS L2/L3 VPN migrations, ensuring minimal downtime and service disruption.
• Implement, configure, and optimise MPLS network infrastructure within a service provider environment.
• Troubleshoot complex routing and switching issues to maintain network stability and performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute migration plans, including testing, validation, and deployment.
• Produce and maintain detailed documentation of network designs, configurations, and operational procedures.
• Ensure compliance with industry best practices and security standards.

Key Skills & Experience Required

• Proven experience in core network engineering within a telecommunications/service provider environment.
• Strong expertise in MPLS networking, including L2/L3 VPNs and traffic engineering.
• In-depth knowledge of BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, and other service provider routing protocols.
• Hands-on experience with network migrations, including planning, implementation, and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with QoS, network automation (Python, Ansible), and SDN/NFV concepts is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
