Engineering Director (with Product Management background)

Intellias is looking for a highly motivated and inspirational hands-on Technical Software Engineering Manager with Product Management background having excellent qualifications to help design and build Desktop and Mobile apps to work seamlessly with related hardware. You will work in a fast-paced environment, to deliver world class apps that delight our customers and help grow the business. You are expected to be hands on and in the details in all phases of development including planning, execution, and release. The project makes smart cutting machines that work with an easy-to-use app, an ever-growing collection of materials, and crafting essentials to help you design and personalize almost anything — custom cards, unique apparel, everyday items, and so much more.

Requirements:

• Wide and deep multi-technology stack and previous development experience
• Highly Proficient in C#, AWS, Angular, JavaScript, ES8+, HTML5, CSS3
• Experienced in Mobile native technologies (iOS, Android)
• Proficient in test driven development, automated testing, and the use of testing frameworks.
• Experience with Webpack, NodeJS, Electron.
• Experience with Less/Sass CSS Pre-processors.
• Experience in Product Management related work, such as Business Analyst or Product Manager
• Product oriented mindset and experience of Products/Features ideation, through execution till launch
• Experience in defining innovative Products/Features and experiences
• Experience in modular and scalable software development.
• Experience maintaining a living and complex codebase with a modern stack.
• Designing and developing modular, reusable, testable components.
• Desire to learn cutting edge technology to solve complex business problems.
• An appreciation for good design, and the desire to translate visual ideas into working, efficient code.
• Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.

Eligibility:

• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or comparable field.
• 3+ years of relevant software engineering management experience.
• 5+ years of experience in leading teams building complex apps and systems with a focus on software architecture & design, multi-threading, memory usage and performance.
• 3+ years in Product Management / Business Analysis
• 8+ years of professional experience in software development.
• Living in Portugal.

Responsibilities:

A Technical Software Engineering Manager that will code 30% of the time

Work collaboratively with fellow department members, product managers, test engineers, and designers to develop and maintain Desktop and Mobile applications.

Lead Agile/Scrum development.

Lead the engineering team in developing new features, improving existing features and improving the quality of the apps.

Work with engineering to figure out architecture, work-breakdown, estimates and schedules.

Apply software engineering design patterns to develop well-structured, performant application code.

Perform code reviews, write unit and UI tests, and contribute to architectural planning and refactoring.

Ensure best coding practices.

Gather Product related insights from numerous sources – metrics, member feedback, customer research, competitive analysis etc. and then translate their user needs into deliverable product requirements

Working with UX, QA, Content and Software Development teams to bring new features to market

Working with product marketing to analyse marketing plans; analyzing performance post launch with QA and Analytics teams, etc.

Use data to identify content gaps and collaborate with the content team to support content acquisition/production

Work as part of a team to understand the relationships between different content types and create a content strategy plan

Collaborate with API teams on API design.

Collaborate with platform teams on cross-platform features.

Training, mentorship, and development of team members.
