Role Overview:

As a UI designer on our small team, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining the company’s design system. You will own the layout, colour scheme, typography, and overall visual style of the interface, working with existing brands and guidelines to make improvements. You will report to the Lead UX Designer, collaborating closely to craft the final UI for all new features, changes, and optimizations done to our products, and working with front-end developers to establish the final solution. ****Your strong attention to detail and knack for creating beautiful and intuitive interfaces will be essential in bringing new solutions to life and developing a consistent experience for our brand across our products.

Key Responsibilities:

• UI Design: Develop high-fidelity designs and prototypes for web and mobile applications. Ensure a consistent and accessible user experience across platforms and devices. Utilize design heuristics, and common UX/UI patterns to inform designs.
• System Design: Expand and improve our design system utilized across the company’s marketplaces and digital products, ensuring consistent implementation of the brand, and keeping AODA, WCAG, and other accessibility guidelines at top of mind
• Web & Marketing Design: Create designs for marketing assets including company websites, landing pages, and the occasional digital marketing campaign
• Accessibility: Ensure you are up-to-date on the latest AODA, WCAG and other accessibility guidelines, and consistently implement improvements to ensure our products are accessible
• Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and iterate on designs based on feedback.
• Usability Testing: Assist with conducting usability tests to validate design solutions and gather user feedback, iterating designs based on findings.
• Advocacy: Advocate for user-centered design principles and best practices within the organization, helping to establish a strong design foundation as we grow.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in UI design, with a strong portfolio showcasing digital product design experience
• Diploma or Degree in Design is preferred. Certificates in User Experience, UI, or equivalent work experience will also be considered
• Previous experience working on consumer facing platforms is a big plus
• Proven experience working in an agile product design team, working closely with developers, designers, and product managers
• Familiarity with agile ways of working and sprint methodology
• Proficiency in design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.)
• Experience building websites on Webflow is a big plus
• Strong understanding of interaction design principles, visual design, and usability best practices
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts and decisions to diverse audiences
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
• Eagerness to learn and collaborate within a team environment, while also possessing the self-motivation to work independently
