Development Operations Engineer

Location: Onshore, Qatar (office based)

Contract Duration: 1-year contract from start date

We are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to support the implementation and administration of DevOps practices within a dynamic IT environment. Acting as a DevOps Subject Matter Expert, you will guide multiple teams in adopting and integrating DevOps principles to enhance automation, security, and efficiency across the software development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain DevOps processes and tools across the organisation.
• Support the development and execution of a DevOps roadmap aligned with strategic objectives.
• Collaborate with development, operations, and QA teams to streamline and automate workflows.
• Administer and support DevOps platforms, ensuring best practices and governance frameworks are followed.
• Implement and promote security best practices, including secure coding and software supply chain security.
• Utilise Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform and configuration management tools like Ansible.
• Oversee Software Composition Analysis (SCA) and Software Bill of Materials (SBOM) processes.
• Provide technical guidance on CI/CD pipeline development, infrastructure automation, and deployment strategies.
• Monitor and optimise system performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in DevOps, security, and cloud computing.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 10 years' experience in DevOps or a similar role.
• Proven ability to implement DevOps practices in complex IT environments.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and methodologies such as Waterfall, Scrum, or Kanban.
• Expertise in CI/CD pipelines, automation tools, and infrastructure as code (IaC) principles.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Familiarity with containerisation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Knowledge of security tools and practices such as SAST, DAST, and software composition analysis.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform, Ansible, and other automation/configuration management tools.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for complex production environments.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, and PowerShell.
• Experience with version control systems (Git).
• Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools.
• Understanding of networking concepts and security best practices.
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Strong project management skills to support DevOps initiatives effectively.
