Security Engineer
Duration: 12 months initially (Extensions likely)
Location: Onsite 3 days per week in Betzdorf, Luxembourg

One of our long-standing clients is a leading Tier 1 satellite communications company. They are working to provide better connectivity and communication services across the EU, including for governments, businesses, and citizens. Their goal is to deliver high-speed internet, especially in areas with little or no coverage.
About the role:
Our client is looking for an experienced Security Engineer to define and implement security requirements, architectures, and risk mitigation strategies for the IRIS2 system, ensuring compliance and secure operations.
Responsibilities:
- Review functional and contractual documentation, ensuring cybersecurity and information protection compliance.
- Analyze, design, and optimize security architecture, including encryption, 5G security, and key management.
- Develop and update Security Management Plans, Risk Analysis, SecOps, and Accreditation strategies.
- Oversee security requirements for operational sites, ensuring secure system implementation.
- Contribute to contract reviews, negotiations, and compliance with institutional milestones (ESA, EC).
- Conduct system architecture reviews and threat/vulnerability assessments for the IRIS² system.
- Identify and assess security solutions, including crypto, VPN, and COTS products.
- Define security perimeters, review 5G security features, and contribute to security integration and validation plans.
Requirements:
- Mandatory EU citizenship with the ability to obtain/hold a “SECRET” security clearance per EU/ESA/NATO regulations.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Network Engineering, Cybersecurity Engineering, Physics, or Mechanics.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in cybersecurity engineering or secure encryption, ideally within satellite communications.
- Proven experience working with EU, ESA, or national governmental institutions on security risk management, threats, incidents, and malware analysis.
- Strong knowledge of security technologies, including encryption, authentication/authorization, Key Management Facility, SIEM, and SOAR.
- Security engineering experience in satellite control, IT & data centers, 5G systems, OSS/BSS, user terminals, and terrestrial networks.
- Familiarity with ISO 27000 Security Standards; ECSS knowledge is a plus.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) with excellent communication skills.
- Willingness to work at least 66% on-site in Betzdorf, Luxembourg.
