Engineer, Plant Support

Job Purpose

The role is responsible to support the Head of Plant Productivity in carrying out the following technical services:

• Provide daily support to Operations about Production Budgeting, Control and Optimization, Energy, Catalyst and Chemicals Management.
• Support the Analysis of Production Loss Events and the Root Cause Analysis work processes.
  
  

Ultimate objective is to enable Operations to avoid reoccurrence of production losses and to maximize production profit. The role coordinates with multiple customers to ensure smooth running of operations. The position coordinate & liaison with Plants, Stores, and Purchase & Laboratory sections for Process Chemicals Management, liaison on Environmental issues within Production plants & Environment section. The role is also heavily oriented towards operational problem solving through application of analytical and innovative approach in providing technical support to production department.

Key Accountabilities

• Monitoring plant performance (process parameters, catalyst / equipment / energy performance, environment emission) and support in production loss accounting.
• Problem Analysis & Troubleshooting.
• Engineering Activities (such as prepare proposals for new projects for the plant, engineering/progress review of ongoing modification proposals, participate in MOC and HAZOP studies).
• Support in the update of engineering documents like P&ID, Trip logics, Operating procedures.
• Assistance in preparing production, catalyst, and chemicals budgeting.
• Participate in Major Shutdown activity of the plant.
• Perform on call duty function and member of relief command team for emergency handling
• Ensure a common and systematic routine to liaison with QAFCO HSEQ on Operations plants - Environmental emissions reporting and compliance issues, GHG Protocol - Accounting & Reporting, LDAR – Fugitive emissions monitoring & reporting and Company’s Sustainability requirement to meet the legal requirement.
• Ensure a common and systematic routine to control Production Information Management system (PIMS) as key administrator to manages, configure applications, and maintain/improve the system reliability in liaison with Production, IT, Automation groups.
• Ensure a common and systematic routine of Production plants / Operations Division reporting such as (not limited to): Production & Consumption reports, Budget - actual variance reports, Shutdown (SD) and Uptime summary reports, Product unit cost & Cost benchmarking reports, Production Department report, Production input to Board report, Qatar Energy reporting (monthly performance, KPI, etc.), Flaring / venting reports to Qatar Energy, Operations Division / Production Manager’s Balance Scorecard (KPI) reports etc.
• Develop and introduce company’s SAP Production Planning module and associated interfaces.
  
  

Desired Candidate Profile

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, graduated from a recognized university.
• Minimum of 7 years relevant plant operations experience in the Fertilizer, Petrochemicals or Oil & Gas Industry.
• Exposed in carrying out various chemical engineering calculations with hands on experience on specialized tools (like Aspen Plus/Hysys simulation, HTFS/HTRI).
