Trainee/Thesis Worker- Linux Performance

  • Location: Espoo, Finland

Nokia DAC consists of centralized and edge clouds that we develop and operate. Our central cloud manages a large fleet of edge clouds on customer premises which extend fixed campus networks with 4G or 5G radio technology and by running applications on the same edge. We run the latest container and cloud-native technologies which is a great opportunity for learning.

How You Will Contribute And What You Will Learn

Contribute to the evolution of Nokia MX Industrial Edge (MXIE) by focusing on Linux performance optimization. Develop and implement performance testing and monitoring tools, analyze system performance, and propose improvements. Work with networking and the lower layers of Linux to optimize performance, reliability, and automation in distributed edge environments.

Key Skills And Experience

You should be pursuing a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in computer science, telecommunications, cloud, engineering, or related fields. Key skills include testing, Linux, and programming.

Additional Skills (Preferred But Not Required)

  • Experience with Linux performance tools (e.g., perf, eBPF)
  • Experience with networking (CNI, XDP)
  • Experience with Golang or Python
  • Experience with container technologies (e.g., Talos, Kubernetes)
  • Experience with Gitlab and JIRA workflows
  • Fluent in spoken and written English

Kindly note that to be able to work as a Trainee, you must have ongoing studies during the contract and to be located in Finland.
