What you’ll do
We are focused on building a best in class shopping experience, bringing together the best of all systems and capabilities (loyalty, gift cards, payments, offers, etc) in the Woolworths Group and providing a seamless rich shopping experience for all.
Within the mobile team everybody has a say in product decisions and we operate as a very flat and collaborative team. Everybody is invited to share ideas and make suggestions
Since the inception of the Android team we have taken the Ecommerce app from a 2.5 star average to a 4 star average and we are committed to keeping that trend going. We have also launched a brand new Everyday Rewards App with a 4.5 star rating.
Use best practices to deliver high quality code; Unit-test code for robustness including edge cases, usability, and general reliability
Implement new features and optimise existing ones from draft to implementation
Work closely with, and incorporate feedback from, product management, UI designers, platform lead and other engineers on a tightly knit team cross-functional and agile team
Help define and encourage best practices, actively participate in code reviews
Contribute to a culture of automated testing
Focus on continuous improvement of the product, developer tool sets and productivity
Help evolve our technology stack to industry best practice
Coach and mentor more junior software engineers, helping them upskill through your guidance, advice and knowledge sharing
What you’ll bring
You’re an Engineer with years of experience dealing with complex problems at scale. You’re curious and prefer to know how stuff works instead of just getting things done. You want to learn, but also share your knowledge with others on the team.
You enjoy being part of the entire Software development lifecycle. You can own the code from inception through to production.
You want to be part of a Digital Transformation and enjoy working in a fast paced environment.
Demonstrable experience building, releasing and supporting multiple Android apps
Comfortable navigating the Android SDK and familiar with Android Components
Understanding of architecting complex Android solutions, experience in MVVM is a prerequisite
Strong knowledge of Google’s Android design principles and interface guidelines
Experience with Jetpack Compose
Exposure to Agile & Lean delivery principals and the ability to provide input to team processes.
