Senior Data Architect

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced Data Architect with expertise in the energy domain to lead the design and implementation of a comprehensive data architecture framework. This individual will play a key role in aligning QAPCO’s data management strategies with business goals, ensuring the optimization and security of data assets across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design & Implementation of Data Architecture:
• Lead the creation of a robust data architecture framework aligned with QAPCO's strategic business goals and evolving requirements.
• Conduct a thorough study of the current data landscape and define the vision for the future landscape, ensuring scalability, reliability, and efficiency.
• Data Analysis & Integration:
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business and technical requirements.
• Design data models and establish data integration strategies that enable effective decision-making and data-driven insights.
• Data Governance & Modeling:
• Prepare and manage data models for key data areas, identified via the data governance process.
• Develop and enforce data governance policies and frameworks, ensuring data is accurate, consistent, and compliant.
• Security & Compliance:
• Ensure the security and confidentiality of data by implementing robust access controls, encryption mechanisms, and regular audits.
• Partner with data security and IT teams to adhere to data privacy regulations and industry best practices.
• Tool Selection & Technology Implementation:
• Evaluate and select appropriate data management tools, technologies, and platforms to enhance the data architecture and support business needs.
• Lead the implementation of selected data technologies, ensuring smooth integration into the overall IT infrastructure.
• Optimization & Performance Assessment:
• Conduct regular assessments of current data structures and make recommendations for performance improvements, ensuring optimized data flows and reduced latency.
• Identify opportunities for data structure and pipeline optimizations to support efficient data processing.
• Data Sensitivity & Classification:
• Define and implement data classifications, and ensure the appropriate sensitivity levels are applied to different types of data.
• Develop and enforce access policies to ensure data is handled in compliance with security protocols.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Education:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Additional certifications or training in data architecture, big data, or cloud technologies are a plus.
• Professional Experience:
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in data architecture, with a significant portion of that in the energy domain.
• Proven track record in designing and implementing data frameworks that align with business goals.
• Strong hands-on experience in data modeling, database design, data governance, and data security practices.
• Technical Skills:
• Expertise in data modeling tools and data integration platforms (e.g., ETL, Data Warehousing).
• Familiarity with big data platforms (e.g., Hadoop, Spark), cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), and databases (e.g., SQL, NoSQL).
• Solid understanding of data privacy laws, including GDPR, and best practices in data security.
• Soft Skills:
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to think strategically.
• Ability to manage complex projects and drive solutions in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
