Network Security Engineer – Brussels

Key Responsibilities:

• Handle service requests related to network operations.
• Provide 2nd level incident response, escalating to vendors when needed.
• Conduct root cause analysis and contribute to problem management and continuous improvement.
• Support lifecycle management of network services to maintain efficiency and compliance.
• Assist in the design and implementation of new network services and solutions.
• Manage configuration changes and ensure documentation is kept up to date.
• Design and implement network management systems and other operational tools:
• Define architecture and evaluate market solutions.
• Conduct proof-of-concept and pre-production testing.
• Migrate new systems into production.
• Define operational procedures and automate routine tasks.
• Develop and configure custom tools (e.g., web dashboards, databases, automation scripts).
• Evaluate quality and efficiency of network operations using metrics and monitoring.
• Regularly monitor and analyze network performance, proposing quality improvements.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Proven experience in large-scale network operations.
• Strong knowledge of incident management, request fulfillment, and problem resolution.
• Hands-on experience with configuration management in enterprise networks.
• Familiarity with network management and monitoring tools.
• Solid understanding of routing & switching technologies:
• BGP, OSPF, VLAN, VPNs, MPLS, etc.
• Experience with firewall policies and security best practices:
• Cisco ASA, Check Point, FortiGate.
• Knowledge of automation and scripting:
• Python, Ansible, Terraform (preferred).
• Understanding of network performance monitoring and troubleshooting methodologies.
• Experience working in multi-vendor environments:
• Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, etc.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to contribute to service improvements.
• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Networks, or Telecommunications.
• Relevant networking certification (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, NSE4, or equivalent) preferred.
• Fluency in English (C1/C2 level) is required.

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have):

• Network automation tools experience.
• Knowledge of cloud networking (AWS, Azure, Hybrid-Cloud).
• Understanding of container networking (Kubernetes, Docker).
• Experience with network telemetry and monitoring.
• Exposure to SDN and network virtualization (NSX, Cisco ACI).

Additional Requirements:

• Must be resident in Belgium or willing to relocate.
