Job Title: Freelance Backend Developer

Location: Brussels

Duration: 12 months

Working Arrangement: Hybrid (2/3 days on site)

We are seeking an experienced Freelance Backend Node.js Developer to join a dynamic project for an innovative company based in Brussels. As part of a talented development team, you will work on high-impact solutions that power cutting-edge applications, contributing to robust backend development that delivers seamless functionality to end users.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using Node.js to support web and mobile applications.
• Collaborate with frontend developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to deliver efficient, scalable, and secure solutions.
• Build and optimize database structures (both relational and NoSQL) to ensure data integrity and performance.
• Troubleshoot and debug issues to improve application performance and stability.
• Implement best practices for API development, including security, versioning, and performance optimization.
• Contribute to the full software development life cycle, including architecture, design, testing, and deployment.
• Participate in code reviews and ensure high-quality standards for all code delivered.
• Stay up to date with the latest industry trends, tools, and technologies to continuously improve the backend stack.

Required Skills & Experience:

• 5+ years of experience in backend development, with a strong focus on Node.js.
• Proven experience in designing and building RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.
• Proficiency in working with databases such as MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, with experience in deploying and maintaining scalable applications.
• Experience in working with version control systems like Git and CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment.
• Understanding of security best practices for backend development (e.g., authentication, authorization, encryption).
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and collaborate in a team-oriented environment.
• Fluent in English (knowledge of French or Dutch is a plus).
