Senior Scrum Master / Team Coach – Agile Delivery | SAFe I Agile Release Train I PI

Location: Any major city in Australia (hybrid work model)

Engagement Type: Long-term contract

Security Clearance: Must be an Australian Citizen with active Baseline clearance

We are looking for an experienced Scrum Master / Team Coach to lead and empower Agile delivery teams as part of a major federal government transformation initiative. This leadership role requires hands-on facilitation, servant leadership, and the ability to drive delivery excellence in a complex and evolving environment.

You will foster high-performing, self-organised teams that deliver consistent value across Program Increments (PIs), support Agile Release Train (ART) activities, and help teams continuously improve delivery practices and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Coach and Mentor: Guide Agile teams on Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe practices. Promote lean thinking, built-in quality, and a culture of continuous improvement.
• Facilitate Agile Ceremonies: Lead planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and backlog refinement sessions.
• Planning & Metrics: Drive delivery predictability through PI Planning, sprint forecasting, and monitoring team performance via key metrics (velocity, WIP, cycle time).
• Manage Risks & Dependencies: Proactively remove impediments and escalate blockers that impact team progress.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with Product Owners, Release Train Engineers, and external stakeholders to ensure alignment with business objectives.
• Support ART Participation: Actively contribute to Agile Release Train events, Communities of Practice, and support the delivery of PI plans.
• Reporting & Governance: Ensure team artefacts (e.g., product backlog, delivery metrics, burn-down charts) are up to date and aligned with program-level reporting requirements.

Essential Experience & Skills

• 3+ years of experience as a Scrum Master, Delivery Lead, or Agile Team Coach in digital or software delivery environments
• Strong experience in delivering within SAFe environments, with active participation in PI Planning and ART ceremonies
• Deep understanding of Scrum, Kanban, Agile Delivery, and Lean principles
• Strong stakeholder engagement and team leadership capabilities
• Proficient in delivery tracking tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, and collaboration platforms like Miro
• Familiarity with the Digital Service Standard and public sector delivery standards
• Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Scrum Master, SAFe Scrum Master, SAFe Advanced Scrum Master, SAFe RTE, or equivalent)
