Lead WebGPU Architect - Game Engineer (Vulkan)

A major global tech company is seeking a WebGPU Lead Architect to take the reins on implementing and optimizing cutting-edge WebGPU technology within high-performance, game engine-based projects. This is a senior, onsite role based in Dublin, offering a high degree of autonomy, leadership, and innovation.
In this position, you will play a pivotal role in defining the future of WebGPU integration, especially for performance-critical mini-game applications. You’ll tackle complex rendering and performance challenges, deliver proof-of-concept implementations, and contribute to shaping strategic R&D directions.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Own and lead the implementation, integration, and optimization of WebGPU technology across various projects.
- Propose, develop, and deliver innovative R&D projects focused on real-time rendering and graphics performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional leadership to define long-term technical strategies and research initiatives.
- Solve challenging performance and architectural issues in game engine environments, especially with Vulkan.
- Mentor and guide the team through cutting-edge research, technical reporting, and publication of findings.
- Stay current with emerging technologies in the field and proactively bring new ideas to the table.
- Represent the team at technical conferences, exhibitions, and interdepartmental meetings as needed.
What We’re Looking For
- MSc or PhD in Computer Graphics, Computer Science, or equivalent industry experience.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in computer graphics R&D and its application in industry.
- Strong expertise in Vulkan and experience integrating it into real-time rendering environments.
- Proven experience developing game engines (Unity, Cocos, or similar).
- Excellent coding abilities in C++, C#, JavaScript, GLSL, and WGSL.
- Deep understanding of real-time rendering pipelines and performance tuning.
- Clear communicator with the ability to articulate complex technical ideas to various stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for conferences and cross-team collaboration.
