Java Software Engineer

Fortray Global is seeking a Java Developer Engineer in Geneva, Switzerland, with B2-certified Dutch proficiency. Our client is a local Swiss company, so the candidate must have work authorization in Switzerland or a stable visa valid for at least two years.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Strong hands-on experience with Java and the Spring framework, including in-depth understanding of JVM internals, Java technologies, and architectural best practices.
• Proven expertise in REST API development, versioning, and maintenance, along with a solid grasp of networking fundamentals.
• Advanced skills in technical design, including design patterns, modeling, and Domain-Driven Design (DDD).
• Proficient in SQL databases such as PostgreSQL and Oracle.
• Practical experience in CI/CD pipelines, and deployment of Java applications to Linux environments or Kubernetes clusters.
• Strong communication skills in English and/or French (written and verbal).
• A Master’s degree in technology or equivalent.
• Solid background in software development, maintenance, and continuous improvement.
• Highly organized, self-motivated, and detail-oriented with a strong team spirit.

Desirable Skills (Nice to Have):

• Interest or experience in financial performance calculations.

Role Overview:

We are looking for a passionate technologist who values reliability, automation, and high-quality delivery. You will play a key role in designing and implementing fault-tolerant systems, ensuring minimal production issues while optimizing customer experience.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with Business Analysts and Solution Architects to enhance PWM Reporting applications and APIs.
• Integrate and manage third-party software components.
• Support internal engineering teams throughout the application development lifecycle.
• Build and optimize automated software delivery pipelines with a focus on scalability and reliability.
• Draft and maintain clear technical documentation.
• Drive post-implementation reviews and continuous improvement processes.
• Troubleshoot issues and conduct root cause analysis, working with cross-functional teams to implement sustainable solutions.
• Address operational and technical challenges, ensuring that software is robust, scalable, and production-ready.
• Knowledge of Jasper or PDF reporting tools.
• Familiarity with TLS/SSL, encryption, and digital certificates.
• Experience in network security and firewall configurations.
• Basic knowledge of containers and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Scripting or development in Python or Bash.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Puppet) and XaaS models.
• Exposure to NoSQL technologies like MongoDB or ElasticSearch.
• Background working in Agile development environments.
