Job Description

Lead the creation and implementation of a long-term technical roadmap for two of our largest apps. Create a sustainable plan to modernise our codebases from XML and RXJava to Compose and Coroutines.

Role Responsibilities

• Drive the creation and implementation of a long-term technical roadmap for two of our largest apps
• Create a sustainable plan to modernise our codebases from XML and RXJava to Compose and Coroutines.
• Feature development and implementation will be achieved by collaborating with our product owners and designers to translate business requirements into functional Android app features.
• Work closely with our other Android and iOS engineers to ensure code quality, adherence to best practices, feature parity, and consistency across the codebase.
• Analyse and optimise the app's performance, including load times, memory usage, and battery consumption.
• Monitor and address issues reported by users or QA, including crashes, performance bottlenecks, or UI/UX inconsistencies.
  
  

Qualifications

Essential qualifications, experience & skills

• High-level execution and contributions to several projects in Kotlin using modern technologies - Flow/Coroutines or RxJava, Hilt DI, Multi-module app, Compose.
• Has led the creation and/or execution of long-term technical roadmaps of Android codebases
• Strong mobile user interface design skills with a focus on optimal performance across devices including Phone and Tablets
• Good understanding of Object-oriented design, SOLID principles and Architecture patterns (MVVM, Clean Architecture, Reactive Patterns)
• Solid Unit and UI Test Automation experience with JUnit/Espresso along with MockingA commitment to quality in your work and that of your team.
• You’ve helped create high-quality software through the implementation of automated and manual QA processesStrong understanding of agile development best practices including Scrum and Lean methodologies.
• Sharing your knowledge with the team and mentoring junior devsStrong interpersonal skills and open to better ideas about solution design, best practices and implementation
• Continuous Improvement in CI/CD and automated testing along with QAExperience with Git,
• Continuous Integration/Development, Agile Software Development, especially using Atlassian tools like JIRA
  
  

Desirable Qualifications, Experience & Skills

• Experience migrating legacy RXJava code to Coroutines
• Experience migrating legacy XML screens to Compose
