Did you know that Stingray delivers world-leading Norwegian high-tech solutions?

We develop intelligent aquaculture technology for the continuous 24/7 removal of sea lice using machine vision and lasers, along with monitoring of lice levels, fish welfare, and growth. Together, this is known as The Fish Health Hub™. Our technology supports increased food production on nature’s terms—without compromising the environment or animal welfare. With our services, we’re proud to help shape the future of aquaculture – Made in Norway.

Join us in advancing innovation and improving fish welfare through research and scientific communication!

At Stingray, we have over 220 employees, and this year we will exceed NOK 1 billion in revenue. We have now produced more than 2,500 units for installation and operation along the entire Norwegian coastline – a number that keeps growing. You’ll join the expanding Aqua department, where 24 passionate experts in fish health and biology are driving progress every day. We are an international and diverse team with expertise across the full aquaculture value chain—from smolt release to harvest—focusing on sea lice, fish welfare, biomass, quality, and production efficiency.

We are now strengthening our Research team, which works across a wide range of tasks related to research communication, data collection, analysis, reporting, and data visualization. We have a dynamic work environment where everyone contributes every day, continuously striving for improvement. Our clients range from small operators and family-owned businesses to major publicly listed and globally recognized companies—across 100+ locations along the coasts of Norway and Iceland.

Your role – What will you do?

Responsibilities

As a researcher with us, you’ll play a key role in the fight against sea lice—one of the biggest challenges in modern aquaculture. This position is primarily centered on theoretical analysis and generating insights from data, with minimal hands-on research trialing. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Initiating and conducting research projects.
  • Analyzing and interpreting biological and operational data across disciplines.
  • Collaborating closely with internal experts, external stakeholders, and research institutions.
  • Contributing to publications in scientific and popular science outlets.
  • Communicating findings and recommendations to industry and authorities.
  • Staying up to date on relevant research and technology.
  • Supervising students in industry-related research.

Qualifications – Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for someone with 3–5 years of research experience, preferably within aquaculture, biology, or environmental sciences. You hold a PhD in biology, marine biology, aquaculture, parasitology, or a related field. You are experienced with analysis tools such as R, Python, or SAS, and have a solid foundation in research ethics, methodology, and statistical analysis.

To thrive in this role, you should be independent, curious, professionally engaged, and analytical. You see patterns and draw insightful conclusions, enjoy interdisciplinary collaboration, scientific discussions, and approach research work in a structured and solution-oriented way. Most importantly, you are passionate about fish welfare, technology and the sustainable development of aquaculture. Fluency in English is essential, and basic Norwegian skills are required—with support to develop them as part of the role.
