Working hours: Brazil business hours + on-call to be discussed;

Job Summary:

We are building out a brand-new team and office in São Paulo office to support our Platform Infrastructure Engineering team and enhance the FactSet tools used by our development teams and clients.

The Lead Network Engineer will be responsible for managing and optimizing complex network systems by configuring networking equipment, automating processes, and collaborating with clients and internal teams to ensure effective integration and support. They will also lead network projects, provide solutions, and serve as an escalation point for technical issues.

Candidates for this position should have solid experience with network fundamentals like WAN/LAN technologies, TCP/IP, routing protocols and have a deep understanding of reference network architectures along with a significant level of ‘Hands On’ network OS experience. Additionally, candidates with a solid track record of interaction with vendors, ISPs, as well as familiarity with automation tools, multicast experience, strong analytical, project management and troubleshooting skills will receive a higher level of consideration.

A previous proven-experience building and operating F5 Load-Balancers or ability and desire to learn on this domain will also be critical decision points.

Past success designing or maintaining a network via automation is also expected. Candidates should have competence in at least one scripting language and experience with standard automation tools. A successful candidate for this position will have strong interpersonal skills, an elevated level of verbal and written dexterity and will enjoy providing effective and meaningful solutions for clients, both internal and external.

Job Responsibilities:

The Lead Network Engineer on day-to-day will:

• Act as a knowledgeable resource for FactSet’s clients, vendors and internal leaders.
• Project manage business and network team initiatives.
• Configure Cisco / Arista Routers / Switches / F5 Load Balancers / Cloud Networking Services to provide solutions that successfully integrate into our clients, vendors and FactSet’s own internal networks.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with clients and stakeholders.
• Provide expert support during network issues and troubleshoot across all network layers.
• Research, design and implement new connections to market data providers and other third parties.
• Optimize processes using templates, automation, and workflow systems.
• Lead and mentor team members, supporting them in achieving their career and project goals.
• Participate in shift rotation for Saturday & Sunday on-call coverage.
• Load-Balancers: F5 LTM, ASM, iRule, A10, AWS ELB, Global Accelerator, CDN (Content Delivery Networks);
• DNS: Infoblox, Cloudflare, AWS Route53, Efficient-IP;
• Cloud: AWS and Azure networking stack;
• Network assets/OS: Arista EOS mostly;
  
  

The candidates we`re looking for should (must-have skills):

• Have a deep understanding (CCNP/equivalent level) of:
• IP Routing protocols;
• LAN Switching;
• TCP/IP/OSI stack concept;
• Network Infrastructure Services (DNS, NTP, DHCP, ARP, SNMP, ICMP, DHCP, etc);
• Troubleshooting methodologies (ex.: taking and analyzing packet captures on wireshark / executing analytical investigation by troubleshooting on production environments )
• Have at least basic understanding (CCNA/equivalent level) of:
• Application load-balancers (F5/AWS/others);
• DNS platforms (Route 53, similars);
• CDN concept;
• IP Multicast;
• Public cloud computing technology platforms like AWS and Azure.
• Network automation tools such as Python, Perl or similar scripting languages and Ansible, Salt, or similar automation tools.
• Network Security (ZTNA/SASE concept / cryptography, hashing, perimeter, Stateless/full/NG Firewalls)
• Experience in network design and implementation, particularly in financial or large enterprise networks.
  
  

Be able to:

• Architect, Build and Manage network infrastructure assets from multiple vendors;
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with global team of technical engineering across EMEA, US and APAC;
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with internal business stakeholders from Market Data platform business areas.
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with external stakeholders like customers or vendors (ISPs, DC, Stock Exchanges, others).
• Guide and support new comers and junior engineers with technical expertise to develop their careers inside FactSet.
• Navigate autonomously on FactSet`s processes and governance to deliver results quickly (self-starter at some level) - with support from regional associate director in Brazil;
  
  

The candidates we`re looking for may (nice-to-have skills):

• Previous experiences working in financial organization, broker dealer/stock exchange or market data environment as network engineer;
• Previous results-proven experience with application load-balancing (AWS/F5 preferentially or others);
• Understanding of Storage Area Networks (SAN);
• Understanding of network operating systems and modern data center network architectures like fabric/EVPN/Spine-leaf;
• Familiarity with network packet broker technologies and public/private/hybrid network architectures;
• Strong experience programming, or scripting at network environment;
• Experience with Unix, Linux, and Windows operating systems;
• Experience with Arista CVP;
• CCIE/JNCIE/Arista ACE certification;
  
  

Requirements to apply:

• BS degree (Tecnólogo Superior ou Bacharelado) in an engineering/IT discipline or equivalent.
• 8-12 years of relevant experience.
• Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
• Live in São Paulo to commute to office 3x/week as per FactSet`s global policy.
• Be able to participate in on-call rotations for weekend - to be discussed with hiring manager.
