System Engineer

Overview:

Our client, a prestigious financial institution based in Brussels, is seeking a Freelance System/Database Engineer to strengthen their IT operations team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise with Unisys systems, NCP (Network Control Program), and DMSII (Data Management System II). Experience within the financial sector is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support, maintain, and optimize Unisys-based systems and DMSII databases.
• Manage and troubleshoot network configurations using NCP.
• Monitor system performance and ensure high availability and security of infrastructure.
• Implement improvements to system architecture and database performance.
• Collaborate closely with internal teams and stakeholders to support business-critical systems.
• Provide onsite support in Brussels two days per week.

Requirements:

• Proven experience with Unisys systems and platforms.
• Hands-on experience with NCP (Network Control Program) and DMSII database management.
• Previous experience working in or for financial services clients is a significant advantage.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills in English (both written and spoken).
• Able to work onsite in Brussels twice per week.

• Knowledge of financial regulatory standards and security best practices.
• Ability to operate effectively in a highly regulated environment.
• French or Dutch language skills are a plus, but not mandatory.
