The Health Information Management Expert is responsible for leading the strategic development and implementation of eHealth policies and systems. This role ensures the accuracy, security, and accessibility of electronic health data while aligning with national privacy regulations and data governance best practices. It requires a combination of healthcare informatics expertise, policy development, and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Enforce robust data governance frameworks for eHealth information, including national coding standards, data exchange protocols, and management procedures
- Design and oversee processes for the collection, storage, retrieval, and analysis of electronic health data to support policy-making, resource allocation, and public health strategies
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, public agencies, and technology vendors to drive the adoption of eHealth systems and adherence to coding and interoperability standards
- Contribute to the development of national-level reports using health information exchange (HIE) data and other healthcare systems to analyze trends, utilization, and program effectiveness
- Lead educational initiatives to train healthcare professionals on best practices in data management, security, and the use of national coding systems to enhance data quality and system integration
- Promote standardized data formats and exchange protocols to facilitate seamless information sharing across disparate healthcare systems
- Support public engagement efforts to raise awareness and build trust in eHealth initiatives, particularly around data privacy and cybersecurity concerns
- Identify priorities and contribute to the development and refinement of health information management policies
- Perform additional tasks related to health information strategy and governance as required
Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Management, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field
- 15+ years of progressive experience in healthcare informatics or health information management
- Proven expertise in data analysis, modeling, and visualization tools
- Deep understanding of healthcare systems, national health data standards, and industry practices
- Knowledge of relevant software applications used in health information systems
- Strong awareness of economic, social, and political factors influencing healthcare data use
- Familiarity with privacy laws, regulations, and policy governance frameworks
- Excellent analytical, strategic assessment, and communication skills
