Job Objective
The Microsoft Cloud Architect will lead the design, implementation, and management of both cloud and on-premises IT infrastructure. The role focuses on leveraging Microsoft Azure to build scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions that align with business needs. The architect will also be responsible for hybrid infrastructure integration, automation, data protection, and supporting the organization’s digital transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
1. Cloud Infrastructure Design & Management
- Design and implement scalable cloud architectures using Microsoft Azure.
- Deploy and manage services such as Azure VMs, AKS, Azure AD, DevOps, Sentinel, and Exchange 365.
- Develop and execute cloud migration strategies from legacy systems to Azure.
- Integrate hybrid environments using Azure Arc, Azure Stack, and Exchange Hybrid.
2. Security & Compliance
- Enforce cloud governance with Azure Policy, RBAC, and Management Groups.
- Implement advanced security practices including Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Zero Trust Architecture, and Azure Sentinel.
3. Backup & Disaster Recovery
- Architect and manage robust backup and disaster recovery strategies using Azure Backup, Site Recovery, and third-party tools.
- Develop incident response plans to ensure system resilience and business continuity.
4. Automation & Optimization
- Automate infrastructure deployment using Terraform, ARM Templates, and Bicep.
- Improve operational workflows using Azure Functions, Logic Apps, and Power Automate.
- Monitor and analyze performance with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights.
5. Cloud Networking
- Manage secure and reliable cloud networking solutions including Virtual Networks, ExpressRoute, Load Balancers, and VPN Gateway.
6. DevOps & CI/CD
- Collaborate with DevOps teams on CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions.
- Manage containerized deployments via Kubernetes.
7. AI & Big Data Analytics
- Design and implement AI and analytics solutions with Azure AI, Machine Learning, and Synapse Analytics.
- Utilize serverless architectures to build efficient, scalable applications.
8. Cost Management & Optimization
- Track Azure usage, optimize resources, and reduce costs through rightsizing, reserved instances, and budget controls.
- Implement governance practices to ensure cost-effective cloud operations.
9. On-Premises Infrastructure
- Maintain legacy systems including Windows Server, AD, DNS, DHCP, VMware, Hyper-V.
- Manage security tools such as ZTNA, firewalls, and endpoint protection solutions.
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
Preferred Certifications:
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate
Technical Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Azure architecture and services
- Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (Terraform, ARM, Bicep)
- Deep understanding of cloud networking, DevOps, and automation
- Familiar with cloud databases (Azure SQL, Cosmos DB)
- Skilled in troubleshooting and performance optimization
Soft Skills
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
- Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Adaptable and effective under pressure in fast-paced environments
