Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to gain vocational experience through a temporary work placement (9 months). Each day, you will acquire knowledge by performing tasks as directed. You will also showcase your expertise by supporting ABB’s operations and enhancing personal education/employment opportunities.
In this role, you join our Robotic Systems Team as a Robotic Systems Test Engineer Intern and you will contribute to validating and testing our core technology running on machines that solve real-world tasks. You will work hands-on with robots, develop and execute tests of our tech stack on various platforms, while helping improve our test and automation pipeline. You will be working closely with the development teams to help troubleshoot and debug product issues that you find.

This role is contributing to the Robotic Systems Team at Sevensense in Zurich, Switzerland.
You will be mainly accountable for:
- Conducting system integration and field testing of our products on various internal or customer robotic platforms, in order to improve robustness and detect unknown issues
- Developing a simulation to validate our software in realistic logistics applications
- Developing new tests in Python/C++ to improve our test coverage
- Supporting the development teams with data collection, setting up robots, and other technical challenges
- Suggesting improvements and developing tools that enable the validation and continuous evaluation of our products

Qualifications for the role
- You are currently enrolled in a Master’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with a focus on robotic systems
- You are able to set up and deploy software on autonomous systems
- You have proven experience in Python, C++, Ubuntu and ROS2
- You are passionate about robotic systems integration and find hands-on testing an exciting challenge to solve
- You are excited about working hands-on with actual machines
- You are a team player who is excited about working in a dynamic environment
- You are open to travel to close-by industrial sites for data recording or debugging, on request
- You are at ease communicating in English
- Non-EU/non-EFTA citizens, please note that a certificate from your university, showing that an internship is a mandatory part of your studies, is required for the visa application
