Head of Engineering

About the Role

A Head of Engineering is sought to help scale and elevate the engineering function of a product-led, global technology company. Working closely with the CTO, this role is positioned to bridge the gap between leadership and four established engineering teams, providing technical direction, delivery oversight, and architectural clarity.

This is a rare opportunity to join a cutting-edge, fast-growing organisation at a pivotal point in its evolution. You’ll play a central role in executing a clearly defined product roadmap, driving engineering performance, and shaping both people and systems as the company continues to scale.

You’ll report directly to the CTO and work on-site three days per week.

You Should Have

• Proven experience leading multiple engineering teams in a scale-up or product-driven environment
• Strong understanding of system architecture, engineering best practices, and modern development workflows
• A background in backend engineering (or fullstack/data is also suitable)
• Demonstrated ability to support and empower engineering teams with what they need to solve complex problems
• Confidence communicating across technical and non-technical audiences, from deep technical reviews to high-level product planning
• Experience working closely with co-founders or executive leadership
• Hands-on exposure to AWS, Node, TypeScript, React Native, Python, or Snowflake is a plus

Nice to Have

• Previous experience at high-performing tech companies.
• A passion for improving engineering maturity, delivery processes, and architecture documentation
• Understanding of ML-driven products and scalable team environments

Key Responsibilities

• Own the delivery of an existing product roadmap and ensure high-quality execution across teams
• Act as the technical counterpart to the CTO and help translate vision into engineering outcomes
• Work with engineers to review code, guide technical decisions, and improve architectural clarity
• Lead and support engineering managers and team leads, fostering alignment and delivery accountability
• Improve engineering processes and documentation with a focus on scalability and team effectiveness
• Help create a strong engineering culture that retains top talent and drives continuous improvement
