Enterprise Architect

My International client based in Brussels is seeking an Enterprise Architect to join the team on a short term contract assignment ( 60 days ) A hybrid working model is possible but 1-2 days per week are required on site at the customer offices.

Tasks and Responsibilities of the Enterprise Architect

• Developing and maintaining enterprise architecture blueprints covering business processes, information flows, applications, and technology infrastructure.
• Defining and maintaining a long-term architecture vision that supports scalability, flexibility, and sustainability.
• Creating and documenting Architectural Decision Records (ADR), capturing key technology choices, rationale, and trade-offs.
• Providing detailed solution designs, system interactions, and implementation guidelines.
• Aligning architecture with business strategy to support digital transformation, cloud adoption, and modernization initiatives.
• Establishing and promoting enterprise-wide architecture standards, reusable components, and API-driven designs to ensure integration and consistency across systems.
• Defining governance frameworks to support compliance with regulatory, security, and industry best practices.
• Leading architecture review boards and facilitating workshops to evaluate design decisions and ensure alignment with enterprise standards.
• Engaging with key stakeholders to gather requirements, manage constraints, and align on strategic technology goals

What skills and experience are expected for this role ?

• Master's degree in IT field with minimum 13 years of relevant experience (or Bachelor's degree with minimum 17 years of relevant experience).
• Familiarity with programming languages and development practices (JEE / .NET / JavaScript etc.)
• Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts and cloud platforms (e.g. Azure / AWS / ServiceNow)
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, service decomposition, and domain-driven design (DDD).
• Proficiency in container based solutions (Kubernetes), Docker for deploying microservices at scale.
• Experience with API design principles and management for scalable system integration.
• Proficiency in popular enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF.
• Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation.
• Understanding of the middleware technologies for hybrid environments.
• Awareness of emerging technologies such as blockchain, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML).
• Knowledge of information system security principles and secure systems design.
• Knowledge of service mesh frameworks, and their role in traffic management and security.
• Familiarity with service mesh architectures and asynchronous messaging (e.g., Kafka, event sourcing).
