The Product manager will play a pivotal part of shaping our product offerings and driving innovation across global activities. Responsibilities include defining product strategy, conducting market research, and supporting the design and implementation of new products. You'll lead the development of existing and new concepts, digital products, and ensure effective portfolio management. Additionally, contributing to shaping maritime regulations and serving as the primary authority for our Cleaning portfolio worldwide, providing expertise in product development, technical supplier management, and product placement. As the organization progresses, this role will continue to evolve in order to continue to make a significant impact on our success. Defining requirements towards and working closely together with our product suppliers and ensures a high standard in WSS’ product quality and distribution.
Who will you work with:
The product manager Chemicals – Cleaning will report to the Head of Product Management – Cleaning whilst working closely with the rest of the product team to drive optimal customer/market fit. The Product Manager will also collaborate closely with Procurement, Inventory, Technical Sales, Digital and Pricing teams.
What you will work on:
- Managing Product Lifecycle: Overseeing the lifecycle of Cleaning products, conceptualization to phase-outs, ensuring the portfolio remains updated and competitive.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Leading technical aspects of supplier relationships, including product development and performance monitoring, while collaborating closely with procurement on commercial aspects and supply chain resilience.
- Pipeline Management: Owning and managing the product pipeline to identify and address future product needs and opportunities, ensuring a proactive approach to product development.
- Upskilling Program Development: Developing concise upskilling programs for sales, customer service, and operations teams to enhance their ability to effectively sell Cleaning products.
- Competitive Analysis and Brand Management: Monitoring the competitive landscape, protecting and building market share, and managing product branding and pricing in alignment with other functions.
- Budgeting and Business Reviews: Contributing to the budgeting process and participating in monthly business reviews to optimize the potential of Cleaning solution in collaboration with Technical Operations.
- Promotion and Representation: Presenting and promoting products at conferences, customer events, and exhibitions to position the company as a market leader both technically and commercially.
- Regulatory Compliance: Monitoring changes in rules and regulations and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and requirements.
- Product Specification and Development: Creating and specifying product requirements for suppliers and drive continuous technical development to meet evolving customer needs.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborating with asset teams, procurement, and operations to improve product offerings, service levels, and availability.
- Innovative Mindset: Embracing a forward-leaning attitude and utilizing technology and digital opportunities to identify market potential whilst also driving improvements in product development.
- Support Sales Activities: Supporting Technical Sales Managers in setting sales targets, forecasts, and optimizing stock availability to drive sales activities effectively.
- Inventory Management: Developing inventory policies, reviewing logistics costs, inventory turnover, availability, and service levels in collaboration with Category Demand Planner.
- Technical and Operational Requirements: Defining technical, operational, and user requirements for digital and technical teams to enhance solution offerings and customer services.
What we believe you need to succeed in the role:
- Master’s degree in chemistry, engineering, technical studies and/or business administration
- 3+ years of experience in Product Management, ideally in the maritime industry
- Good command of the English language
