User Experience Designer

Position: Front End Designer DDD Office GOA

Rate: $95-$115/HR

Location: REMOTE

POSITION SUMMARY:

Role Description: FRONT END DESIGNER - DDD/Government of Alberta

Responsibilities:

The Province requires Front End Designer(s) to work with 3D on service innovation, program review and digital transformation projects across the GoA. The Front End Designer(s) will work as part of cross-functional program review or product delivery teams. These teams, led by GoA product owners and 3D work collaboratively and collectively participate in a full range of activities including: field research, backlog definition and refinement, and sprint planning and execution. Digital transformation projects review the current state of services, identify future opportunities, and then deliver new services that are efficient, effective and affordable.

Mandatory Qualifications: (Must have Minimum 5 years of all of the following)

• Experience as a Front End Designer designing and enhancing services via web and other channels
• Experience developing UX artifacts, including streamlined scenarios, storyboards, wireframes, flows and interactive prototypes.
• Experience working within a cross-functional product team in an Agile environment
• Experience building and maintaining component libraries/design systems.
• Experience exploring multiple design solutions to a given problem or feature, and communicating those solutions visually through sketches, user flows, wireframes, functional prototypes, and/or high-fidelity designs, as necessary.
• Experience in production design for multiple digital devices (web, mobile, etc.) or complex enterprise applications.
• Experience using accessibility standards and principles including the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines
• Experience with current methodologies and design thinking, especially in relation to improving service experience.
• Experience with frontend design applications such as Axure, Adobe XD, Sketch, Figma, etc.
• Experience working as a Front End Designer on a project comparable in size and complexity to the service innovation, program review, and/or digital transformation projects such as the GoA (2 YEARS)
• Experience working in a dedicated public sector central digital office (e.g. UK Government Digital Service; Ontario Digital Service; British Columbia Government Digital Experience, GoA Digital Innovation Office or its successors). (2 YEARS)

NOTES ON LOCATION: REMOTE

The Front End Designer will primarily work remotely; however, the Front End Designer is expected to attend meetings or work sessions often (i.e. quarterly) in Alberta on reasonable notice from the Province. At the time of providing such notice, the Province will advise of the expected duration of any such meetings or work sessions. However, time to travel and any associated expenses to and from Edmonton will be at no cost to the Province.

Estimated End Date: JULY 2026

Possible Extenstion: 2 x 12 months

Rate Range: $95 - $115/hr
