Create impact and leverage and be a key contributor to WeMoney’s Success

Senior Software Engineer

Personal finance is broken.

Ever wonder why people struggle to manage their finances effectively? Or why do young people struggle for decades or more to regain financial stability after financial missteps from their youth? At WeMoney we wonder that too and it keeps us up at night. This problem on the surface was for a long period thought of as intractable, too difficult to solve, or “just the way it is”, but at WeMoney, we felt that this status quo was unacceptable.

We believe that something needs to exist to allow everyone to take control of their financial destiny. Our mission is to simplify and automate financial management, making it accessible and understandable for all, regardless of their background or education, and helping our members break the cycle of financial insecurity and build a brighter, more secure future.

Are you insanely curious about this problem and WeMoney? Then we’d love to connect with you.

The Role

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join us in our engineering team in our central Perth office, with engaging and meaningful contributions you will help shape and develop our core user-facing applications.

We provide budgeting, expense tracking and community related functionality to our members to achieve their financial goals and your primary function will be to maintain both the hybrid React.JS and React Native codebases for our consumer facing apps, as well as our Golang APIs backed by AWS, EKS, PostgreSQL.

We are looking for someone who understands the entire SDLC with a focus on mobile first application development and testing, as well as how to avoid common cross-platform pitfalls. You will contribute to our modern, low-latency, event-driven architecture. You are also expected to be comfortable with reading unfamiliar source code, while prioritising and delivering outcomes.

What you bring to the table

  • You'll need to be comfortable with ambiguity, be resourceful to solve problems, and be able to adjust to shifting deadlines and project goals.
  • Experience managing software projects. You'll have the ability to own the delivery of complex features, break down requirements and provide reasonable estimates.
  • Routinely reading source code and making recommendations on improvements and optimisations. You write clean, well structured code and lean on automated testing to minimise bugs.
  • You strive to optimise our cloud-native infrastructure, while maintaining a deep understanding of why design and architectural tradeoffs are made. As part of the wider engineering team, you will help shape the design and architecture of the entire WeMoney ecosystem.
  • You are an excellent, concise communicator. You can easily convey your thoughts, opinions, and feelings with your product team and have the ability to articulate effort vs impact tradeoffs.
  • You have empathy and the willingness to coach and mentor team members.
  • Staying up-to-date with industry trends and best practices and demonstrating a readiness to share your knowledge with others.
  • You’re not satisfied with what’s already available and find purpose in revising and improving things.

Why Join WeMoney?

  • Impactful Work: Every design decision contributes to changing the financial futures of our members.
  • Supportive Team: Join a culture that values growth, excellence, and transparency.
  • Growth Opportunities: Competitive salary, equity options, and ongoing professional development.
  • Purpose-Driven: Be part of a mission that’s making financial freedom a reality for everyone.
