Senior Accessibility Specialist
- Initial 12 month contract
- Brisbane or Melbourne based + WFH Options
- Australian Citizenship is essential
We’re seeking a Senior Accessibility Specialist to lead inclusive design and accessibility best practices across a portfolio of digital products and services. This is a key role where you’ll shape the user experience for thousands of Australians, ensuring digital solutions are inclusive, accessible, and aligned with recognised standards and assistive technologies.
As an experienced accessibility professional, you’ll work across multidisciplinary teams—researchers, designers, developers, and delivery leads—helping to embed accessibility from the earliest stages of design through to development and release.
What you’ll be doing
- Partnering with product teams to ensure accessibility is built into every stage of the digital product lifecycle.
- Reviewing designs (Figma, Axure), wireframes, and front-end code to identify and address accessibility barriers.
- Providing expert advice on accessible design patterns and assistive technologies.
- Educating and supporting delivery teams in implementing WCAG, ARIA, and platform-specific accessibility standards (iOS/Android).
- Leading accessibility efforts across multiple concurrent digital initiatives.
- Supporting usability testing involving people with disability, including staff and service users.
What we’re looking for
- 5+ years of experience delivering accessibility outcomes in digital or product teams.
- Proven knowledge of WCAG 2.1+ standards, ARIA/WAI-ARIA, and how they apply to web and mobile platforms.
- Strong understanding of how people with disabilities interact with digital systems, and common assistive technologies (screen readers, magnifiers, voice input, etc.).
- Experience identifying and remediating accessibility barriers in UI/UX designs and code.
- Ability to communicate complex accessibility concepts clearly to cross-functional teams.
- Hands-on experience with accessibility validation and testing tools.
Ideally you will also have the following
- Experience running usability testing with people with disability.
- Knowledge of inclusive design principles and methodologies.
- Familiarity with accessibility considerations for emerging platforms and technologies.
- A passion for accessible and ethical design practices.
This role will be offered as an initial 12 month contract + view to extend
