Junior Data Scientist

Job Description

An experienced Data Scientist/Analyst is needed to contribute to the management of the environmental impact of chemicals. The position focuses on analyzing chemical monitoring data to support decision-making, identify trends, draw conclusions, and make recommendations based on the analyses.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with various departments to enhance data collection and analysis processes, ensuring timely and evidence-based chemical management.

Develop open data products to aid external partners in understanding the data.

Communicate findings from data analyses effectively in various formats.

Provide mentorship and coaching to data analyst apprentices and manage direct reports if required.

Requirements:

Experience in managing and analyzing large datasets from diverse sources to support decision-making.

Familiarity with environmental datasets or understanding chemicals in the environment is beneficial.

Proficiency in coding and statistical software such as R, Python, Power BI, and Arc GIS.

Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.

Strong organizational skills to manage workload and prioritize tasks.

Excellent communication skills to convey complex information to non-technical audiences.

Additional Information:

Regular travel to locations such as Bristol, London, and Birmingham, including overnight stays.

Training and participation in incident response duties are mandatory, supporting communities and preventing environmental harm.
