Technical Engineer AI & ML (Startup) (m/f/d)

Who we're looking for:

We’re searching for a versatile, proactive, and driven engineer to become a foundational member of our growing technical team. You’ll work closely (2/3 days a week in Lugano) alongside the Founders, comfortably navigating between research-oriented tasks and production-ready software development. Our ideal candidate thrives in the fast-paced, dynamic environment of an early-stage startup, enjoys direct customer interaction, and confidently tackles integration and infrastructure challenges.

You are:

What you'll be doing:

• Actively participate in proof-of-concept (PoC) and pilot projects.


• Collaborate directly with stakeholders and customers, gathering and integrating their feedback into our technical solutions.


• Develop, maintain, and document internal modules, APIs, and data pipelines involving computer vision and signal processing techniques.


• Engage deeply with anomaly detection technologies using multimodal data.


• Ensure robust development practices through version control, CI/CD pipelines, and thorough documentation.


• Work closely with company founders, influencing technical decisions and shaping the product vision.


• Provide technical pre-sales support, clearly presenting complex technical details to potential clients.

What you bring:

Essential:

• Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.


• 1 to 5 years of relevant practical experience.


• Strong proficiency in Python; experience with C/C++ for embedded integration.


• Solid expertise in PyTorch, and familiarity with AI/ML concepts such as anomaly detection, forecasting, and multimodal data processing.


• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, REST APIs, gRPC, and inference serving.


• Experience using monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or similar telemetry solutions.


• Familiarity with modern software development practices: Git, unit testing, continuous integration/deployment, and model tracking/versioning tools (DVC, MLflow, WandB).

Nice-to-have:

• Exposure to JAX, ONNX, Optuna, hyperparameter optimization, or model quantization techniques.


• Experience with computer vision pipelines, tensor compilers, or hardware-aware optimization.


• Knowledge of data pipeline management, sensor data logging, and dataset augmentation.


• Previous experience in a customer-facing technical role or B2B integration.

• An initial 6-month entry position with compensation between CHF 2,700-3,400 gross/month.
