Senior System Support Engineer

Job Objective

The Senior System Support Engineer is responsible for ensuring the compliance and optimal performance of computer rooms and related ICT infrastructures. This role involves implementing preventive maintenance for automation equipment at petrol stations, coordinating with contractors and departments for ICT concerns, and developing policies and procedures to enhance ICT infrastructure support operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Computer Room & Infrastructure Management:
• Maintain and manage cables and cabinets in computer rooms across remote sites.
• Oversee the deployment and upgrades of computer room infrastructure, including cabinets, cable management, and access controls.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations for ICT infrastructures.
• Preventive Maintenance:
• Implement and oversee preventive maintenance schedules for automation equipment at petrol stations.
• Monitor and respond to abnormal or unexpected conditions in facility systems.
• Coordinate with relevant departments to address maintenance issues promptly.
• Policy & Procedure Development:
• Develop and document processes to transform infrastructure operations into standardized policies and procedures.
• Provide operational insights during the design review process to ensure maintainability and compliance.
• Maintain and control documentation related to audits and compliance requirements.
• Coordination & Communication:
• Act as a technical liaison between hardware operations teams and other departments.
• Coordinate with contractors and departments regarding ICT concerns during maintenance and installation of new stations.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure alignment on ICT infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience:
• 10-12 years of demonstrated experience in building, designing, and maintaining computer rooms and data centers.
• Experience in data center operations, ICT facilities infrastructure, and maintenance.
• Certifications:
• Certified CCNA or CompTIA Network+ (Preferable).
• Technical certification in fuel dispensers, ATG, and site controllers from Gilbarco or Wayne is an advantage.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge and experience in computer hardware, security, and network operations.
• Knowledge of retail and forecourt automation systems and hardware is an advantage.
• Engineering experience in planning for computer room growth and expansion.
• Knowledge of ICT standards and strong technical writing skills.
• Understanding of electrical and mechanical systems used in computer room environments, including feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, and PDU units.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with contractors performing maintenance or upgrades.
• Willingness to work non-standard hours, including weekends, holidays, and shift-based schedules.
• Excellent physical health with no pre-existing chronic medical conditions.
• Proficiency in English communication.
• Valid driving license in Qatar.
