Respondent is building the infrastructure that powers participant recruiting for the research industry. Our mission is simple but ambitious: to make it effortless for researchers to find and engage the right participants—whether they’re testing a new product, exploring a market, or validating an idea.

Since our founder recruited the first participants to the panel on the NYC subway, we’ve built a panel of more than 3m participants across 150 countries - making Respondent the industry’s most diverse participant panel. Right now the research industry is going through an enormous change, and we’re at the forefront of it. As AI makes it easier to run high-quality research with 1,000s of participants at once (instead of 10s), we’re seeing demand for our participants grow at lightning speed. Our customers include Microsoft, Dropbox, P&G, and 500 others, and we fuel the research industry with high-quality participants via an integration with software partners including Maze, Rally, and Great Question.

About the role

We're looking for a backend-leaning, Senior Full Stack Engineer to help us build a world class API experience. More than anything, we are looking for engineers who want to help us solve customer problems. It’s less about the technologies you are familiar with and more about understanding our customers and shipping features that grow revenue.

What you’ll be responsible for

🛠 API Development

Build robust and secure APIs that facilitate communication between frontend and backend systems or external services.

🛠 Product Engineering

Design, develop, and improve software products by considering the entire system to meet user needs and align with business requirements.

🔄 Software Process Optimisation

Implement and refine software development processes and methodologies, enhancing efficiency and quality in front-end, back-end, and data engineering contexts.

Key Skills

🛠Senior-level Full Stack Experience

Advanced expertise in both front-end and back-end development. Our ideal candidate has a strong command of TypeScript, Node.js, and AWS services. While prior experience with all of our technologies is not required, a willingness and ability to learn quickly is essential.We use Angular, Vue, and React (Next.js) for our frontend. Our backend is built on Node.js, AWS (Lambda, SQS, EventBridge, S3), and MongoDB.
