Overview and Objectives of the Position:
Lecturers at Murdoch University Dubai are responsible for delivering high quality education to a diverse cohort of students. Responsibilities will include delivery of lectures and labs to UG and diploma students, marking of assignments and supporting students in their work.
This unit explores the principles and practices behind the design and development of virtual reality environments and interactive game software. Students will gain a solid foundation in software engineering concepts as they apply to immersive technologies, with a focus on designing engaging, user-centered experiences. Through hands-on projects using industry-standard tools like Unity, students will develop skills in 3D modelling, game mechanics, interaction design, and virtual world building. Virtual Realities and Games Software Design encourages creativity, critical thinking, and technical proficiency in one of the most exciting areas of modern computing.
Required Qualifications:
A postgraduate degree (AQF Level 8 or higher) or equivalent in Computer Science or a closely related field.
Required Teaching Experience:
We’re looking for someone who can:
- Deliver engaging, theoretical content in games and virtual reality (VR) design, as well as software engineering.
- Collaborate with students to solve design and development challenges in games and VR.
- Assess project proposals and academic assignments critically and fairly.
- Experience with Unity or similar 3D game engines, and familiarity with virtual reality platforms, is highly desirable.
Required Industry Experience:
Not required. Industrial experience in use of the abovementioned software for games and VR design and development would be an advantage.
