DevOps Engineer

Job Title: DevOps Engineer

Location: Vancouver - Hybrid

Rate: $65-80/hr inc

Duration: 6 months to start

3 days onsite a week in Vancouver

Qualifications

· 5+ years of hands-on AWS experience (IAM, S3, SFTP, SQS, EC2, EKS, Secrets Manager).

· Proficient in AWS architecture elements like VPC, Lambda, ECS, API Gateway, CloudFront, and DNS.

· 3+ years working with Terraform (CLI and Cloud) to automate infrastructure.

· 2+ years of CI/CD development experience using Jenkins, Maven, and Java.

· Solid understanding of automated deployment tools (CodeBuild, CodeDeploy, CodePipeline).

· Familiar with Git and modern version control workflows.

· Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

1. Kubernetes on AWS (EKS)

• Must have hands-on ownership of Kubernetes clusters on AWS
• Experience should cover the entire lifecycle:
• Cluster creation and configuration
• Upgrades (know what to upgrade and how)
• Backups and recovery
• Deployment strategies (blue/green, rolling, etc.)
• Monitoring and alerting
• Not just someone who worked within a team—needs to have personally performed and led these tasks

2. Terraform (Infrastructure as Code)

• Confident writing and managing Terraform modules
• Understands state management, variable configurations, environment separation
• Has deployed real-world production infrastructure, not just lab environments

3. CI/CD for Java Applications

• Deep familiarity with CI/CD for Java
• Experience integrating with tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, AWS CodeBuild/CodePipeline
• Can speak to build-test-deploy cycles and troubleshoot pipeline issues
• Can describe how they handle versioning, rollbacks, and artifact management

4. Monitoring & Observability

• Knows how to proactively monitor K8s clusters and deployed services
• Familiar with tools like Prometheus, Grafana, AWS CloudWatch, or equivalent
• Can explain how they measure system health and act on alerts

5. (Nice to Have) MuleSoft

• Experience deploying or supporting MuleSoft applications or APIs is a plus but not mandatory
