Job Title: UI/UX Developer

Contract: Initial contract through Dec 2025

Location: Brisbane CBD, Hybrid

Job Summary

Our client is a large and complex QLD State Government agency. They provide digitally enabled whole-of-government services to the Queensland public through multiple channels including phone, counter and online. This stream brings together technology, development, products, design, engagement, and operations to deliver simpler connected services.

They are seeking a talented and proactive User Interface / User Experience Developer to join their dynamic team and drive the delivery of innovative digital strategies that enhance outcomes for Queenslanders. In this role, you will develop and maintain Squiz Matrix websites, implement reusable components for the Queensland Government Design System (QGDS), and ensure a stable, responsive web environment for stakeholders.

Your expertise in web technologies, publishing tools, and accessibility standards will be key to supporting multiple projects, providing creative solutions, and fostering strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Actively participate as a member of a team of online professionals to develop and deliver innovative digital strategies that enhance outcomes for all Queenslanders.
• Implement and develop reusable components and templates for the Queensland Government Design System (QGDS) in Squiz Matrix websites
• Support Queensland Online's web environments ensuring a quality, stable and responsive environment for all stakeholders - users, web publishers, technical staff and management, responding to day-to-day requests for assistance from users and web publishers.
• Develop for and maintain Squiz Matrix websites managed by Queensland Online
• Develop and maintain relationships with Queensland Online clients, including Queensland Government departments, agencies, and key stakeholders.
• Provide feedback to the Principal, Online Experience on publishing, compliance, web standards, web analytics and tools and techniques to identify opportunities for improved services and outcomes and generate creative solutions for the management of corporate information and knowledge using contemporary technology.
• Maintain knowledge of the use, function and information provided by web publishing and internet technologies supported by Queensland Online.
• Proactively identify opportunities for improved services and outcomes through creative and innovative solutions for the management of corporate information and knowledge using contemporary technology.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Online Experience team by providing feedback on strategies, processes, and systems.

Requirements

• Demonstrated skills and knowledge of the diverse distributed web-publishing environment in a decentralised, multi-disciplinary and technically complex service delivery environment.
• Demonstrated knowledge of current and emerging web technologies, publishing tools, content management systems, web standards and government accessibility requirements.
• Proven experience with website components development in Squiz Matrix.
• Demonstrated ability to support at team to deliver multiple projects within tight and often conflicting timeframes.
• Good interpersonal, presentation and consultation skills, with the ability to ability to work in partnership and build and maintain effective professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Demonstrated experience supporting online projects on time, ensuring all output is aligned to strategic priorities.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in an online context.
