Freelance Opportunity: Junior/Medior Information Security Consultant (Dutch-speaking) – Brussels

Location: Brussels

Language Requirement: Native Dutch (CEFR level C2)

Duration: 1 year with possibility of extension

The Role

Do you thrive on safeguarding digital assets and shaping robust security strategies? Our client is seeking a proactive Information Security Consultant.

As a key figure in the security team, you'll act as a trusted advisor on information security, working collaboratively with internal stakeholders, developers, external partners, and public authorities.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage security measures across the organization
• Translate strategic security goals into clear, actionable initiatives
• Maintain and update security plans, perform risk analyses, monitor incidents, and support awareness programs
• Conduct strategic and operational risk assessments, including asset-specific evaluations
• Track and report on security risks and mitigation efforts
• Lead internal awareness campaigns and training initiatives
• Serve as the point of contact and subject matter expert for all information security topics
• Build and maintain a central knowledge repository on security best practices and policies

What You Bring

Required Experience and Skills:

• At least 3 years of experience in security consulting (in domains such as data, infrastructure, or application security)
• Hands-on expertise with:
• ISO standards such as ISO 31000 and ISO 27005
• Building and operating ISMS aligned with ISO 27001
• Conducting qualitative and quantitative risk assessments
• Improving governance and optimizing security processes
• Security frameworks such as the ISO 27000 series, COBIT, NIST, OWASP, and CIS Controls
• Strong knowledge of applicable laws and regulations (e.g., NIS2)
• Familiarity with ITIL practices
• Relevant certifications such as CISM, CISSP, or CEH (depending on specialization)
• Excellent command of Dutch at CEFR level C2 (native or equivalent)
