Sr. Software Engineer - Delivery Platform

About The Role

Uber Delivery includes our Uber Eats, Grocery, and Retail products, where we focus on getting goods from a merchant to a customer. We are looking for an experienced Sr Software Engineer to join Uber Delivery.

This organization is responsible for serving, ingesting, and indexing data within our feed, storefront, and application carousel experiences. We support multiple data retrieval methods from a high-scale MySQL database. We focus on inventing new and exciting ways to help customers find the products they want within our ever growing catalog which requires understanding the customer needs and building a highly performant backend to support these use cases.

What The Candidate Will Need / Bonus Points

• Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable and innovative software solutions.
• Identify opportunities and lead the entire development lifecycle end-to-end, from architecture design and coding to testing and deployment.
• Conduct thorough code reviews, offering constructive feedback to maintain high code quality and elevate coding standards.
• Help the team understand what is important and what problems to focus on.
• Identify solutions to ambiguous problems and help the team reason through tradeoffs.
• Communicating with internal clients, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs.
  
  

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field, with 5+ years of full-time engineering experience.
• Experience in hands-on software development with thoughtfulness of scale, latency and distributed architecture.
• Highly efficient coding in Golang, Java or any similar languages.
• Solid experience working with relational databases, MySQL, PostgreSQL or similar databases, on high concurrency environments.
• Working experience with Flink, Spark, and/or Kafka
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Solid systems design experience on high availability and low latency environments.
• Proven experience of shipping high-quality internal platforms.
• Solid experience working with non-relational databases, Cassandra, MongoDB or similar, on high concurrency environments.
• A great teammate and owner - willing to take on ownership of the systems, and think about operations, maintenance and reliability of their systems.
• Proven experience working with online food delivery systems and/or e-commerce platforms is a plus.
  
  

For Canada-based roles: The base salary range for this role is CAD$164,000 per year - CAD$182,000 per year. For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$198,000 per year - USD$220,000 per year. For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$198,000 per year - USD$220,000 per year. For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
