Hours: 40 - Core hours: 11am–2pm PST

Interview process:

• 5–10 mins on background
• 40+ mins live Go coding (focus on debugging, unit testing, best practices)
• Final mins for follow-up questions

Summary: Senior Backend Engineer with 5+ years of experience in Go, strong knowledge of GraphQL (ideally Federation/Apollo Router), and proven ability to migrate services and debug complex systems in fast-paced, cross-functional environments.

About:

In this role, you’ll focus on migrating legacy Python services to Go within our GraphQL API services. Experience with GraphQL, including GraphQL Federation and Apollo Router, is a strong plus. You'll use internal tools and processes developed by the GraphQL team to accelerate our migration from Python to Go. We're seeking someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, excels at solving complex problems, and collaborates effortlessly across teams.

Day-to-Day:

Porting services from Python to Go

Writing unit/integration tests

Code reviews, debugging, pair programming

Collaborating with Susie & broader engineering teams

Responsibilities include:

Migrate and refactor existing Python logic into Golang within GraphQL API services.

Rapidly learn and adapt to internal tools, systems, and processes to speed up migration.

Collaborate closely with engineers across teams to ensure smooth delivery.

Debug complex issues quickly and provide clear, actionable solutions.

Maintain high-quality, well-tested code with thorough validation.

Identify and implement improvements in our migration tooling.

Required:

• Strong Go experience
• Ability to read Python
• Scalable backend engineering & service-oriented architecture
• Strong debugging & unit testing in GO

Preferred:

• GraphQL (Federation)
• Integration testing familiarity
• Tap compare / shadow traffic concepts
• Infra/backend work at top tech companies (e.g., Discord, Google)
