We are looking for a RISC-V Embedded Systems Engineer to join a leading semiconductor innovation lab in Vienna. The ideal candidate has experience developing low-level firmware for RISC-V.

What You’ll Do

• Develop and maintain low-level firmware for RISC-V SoCs and microcontrollers

• Collaborate with silicon architects to optimize bootloaders, device drivers, and hardware abstraction layers (HALs)

• Perform bring-up, validation, and debugging of new RISC-V hardware platforms

• Use simulation tools, debuggers, and emulators (e.g., JTAG, UART) for hardware/software integration

• Support performance tuning, power management, and embedded security features

• Maintain and improve build systems using tools like Yocto and CMake

• Work within Git-based development workflows

Your Background

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, or related field

• 3–5 years of embedded systems experience, ideally with RISC-V

• Proficient in embedded C and assembly language programming

• Experience with RISC-V toolchains such as GCC and debugging interfaces (JTAG, UART)

• Familiarity with embedded Linux build systems like Yocto and build automation tools (e.g., CMake)

• Comfortable working with open-source IP blocks and collaborating in agile teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with secure boot and hardware security modules (HSMs)

• Familiarity with edge computing or AI accelerator platforms

• Knowledge of pre-silicon validation and hardware simulation environments

• Contributions to open-source RISC-V projects or semiconductor communities
