Job Purpose Summary:
The ALM Risk System Analyst is responsible for supporting the ALM (Asset and Liability Management) Risk system and Risk Managers with day-to-day operations, investigations, and future system enhancements. This role involves functional analysis, translating user requirements into actionable system specifications, and providing comprehensive support to ALM, liquidity, and market risk functions across domestic and international operations.
The role includes collaborating with project managers, IT departments, vendors, and business users to manage change requests, implement enhancements, and support post-implementation activities. The incumbent will also assist in user training and ensure the effective adoption of risk systems, while maintaining alignment with regulatory standards and best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
A. Shareholder & Financial:
- Ensure ALM Risk system operations and implementations remain within budget.
- Support Risk Project Management in tracking costs and progress.
B. Customer (Internal & External):
- Support the VP Risk Change Management & MIS in executing Risk-related projects.
- Conduct user training sessions and workshops.
- Act as a liaison with IT and vendors to support implementation and data needs.
- Estimate and plan vendor support in coordination with department heads and ITD.
C. Internal Processes, Products & Regulatory:
- Ensure compliance with internal and regulatory changes in risk systems.
- Translate business requirements into system functionalities.
- Maintain effective communication with vendors and internal stakeholders for smooth execution.
D. Learning & Knowledge Management:
- Facilitate end-user training on ALM Risk systems and related models.
- Support the alignment of system mapping with risk department requirements.
- Participate in cross-functional projects and workshops.
E. Confidentiality & Ethics:
- Maintain high standards of confidentiality to safeguard sensitive information.
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in implementing risk management systems for banks.
- In-depth knowledge of ALM, liquidity, and market risk metrics.
- Business analysis and project management experience.
- Risk management certifications are a plus.
Required Skills:
- Proven experience in designing and implementing risk management processes.
- Understanding of Basel regulatory frameworks.
- Strong knowledge of banking IT systems and financial products.
- Proficiency in using IT tools and technologies for risk analysis.
- Excellent English communication skills—both oral and written.
- High attention to detail, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
- Ability to deliver under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Operating Environment:
- Based in Qatar with potential collaboration with international branches and subsidiaries.
Framework & Boundaries:
- Must work within approved timelines, budgets, and project scopes.
- Adhere to all Group policies, regulatory guidelines (QCB), and best practices.
- Subject to tasks delegated by EVP SRM, GCRO, and senior management.
Key Interactions:
- Internal: ITD, Financial Control, Treasury, Audit, International and Domestic Business Units.
- External: Risk system vendors and consultants.
