Backend Developer

Your job:

As a Backend Developer, you will help build robust, scalable, and secure cloud solutions for IoT applications. You’ll work closely with embedded engineers, system architects, and product owners to create end-to-end solutions that interface with real-world devices across diverse networks.

Key responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain backend services on Microsoft Azure (e.g., Functions, IoT Hub, Azure
• Data Explorer, SQL Server)
• Develop and integrate secure REST APIs and real-time communication (e.g., WebSockets, MQTT)
• Collaborate with hardware and cloud teams to ensure seamless device connectivity and data flow
• Work with complex network environments, including VPNs, firewalls, and cellular connections
• Optimize system performance under constrained or intermittent network conditions
• Contribute to CI/CD workflows, automated testing, and deployment pipelines

What you bring:

• 3+ years of experience developing cloud-based IoT solutions on Microsoft Azure
• Strong backend development skills with Python, REST APIs, and WebSockets
• Solid understanding of networking concepts: IP, NAT, firewalls, VPN, DNS
• Familiarity with the challenges of cellular communication in IoT (e.g., low bandwidth, high latency)
• Hands-on experience with Azure services: IoT Hub, Azure Functions, API Management, App Gateway,
• Blob Storage, Azure Data Explorer, SQL Server
• Experience with DevOps pipelines using Azure DevOps
• Knowledge of IoT protocols: MQTT, HTTPS, OAuth2
• Proficiency in Dutch (reading and speaking)
• Experience deploying and maintaining MQTT or similar protocols in real-world IoT environments
