Junior Network Support Engineer – Security – Hybrid

We are seeking a motivated and capable Junior Network Support Engineer – Security to support infrastructure operations and contribute to security system oversight for a public sector client.
Location: Hybrid working model (primarily remote, with up to 2 days per month onsite at the Wexford office)
Start Date: July 2025 (or as early as possible thereafter)
Contract Type: Fixed-term (Full-time)
Contract Duration: 12 months
Hybrid schedule: Monday–Friday, between 08:00–18:00, for a total of 7.5 hours per day (excluding lunch breaks)
Travel Requirement: Occasional onsite attendance required. Candidates must have access to transport and a full clean driving license
About the Role:
We’re looking for a Junior Network Support Engineer with experience in managing certificates, securing Microsoft and Linux environments, and implementing automation. This role is ideal for someone seeking to further their career in IT security and network operations while supporting critical government infrastructure.
You will play a key role in maintaining system integrity, supporting secure access, and troubleshooting across diverse environments and platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage certificate lifecycles, including issuance, renewal, and revocation
- Administer Active Directory Certificate Services and Azure certificate infrastructure
- Provide technical support and maintenance of Linux systems (Red Hat, Debian)
- Oversee security systems including Microsoft Defender, Checkpoint, Cylance, and Skyhigh Web Gateway
- Maintain and secure enterprise networks including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion prevention systems
- Create automation scripts using PowerShell or Python for system tasks and reporting
- Monitor and respond to performance and security incidents across the network
Essential Experience & Skills:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in each of the following:
- Certificate management (AD CS, Azure, SSL troubleshooting)
- Linux administration (Red Hat/Debian, complex application troubleshooting)
- Security system oversight (Microsoft Defender, Checkpoint, Cylance, Skyhigh)
- Network infrastructure (firewalls, VPNs, IPS, traffic monitoring)
- Automation and scripting using PowerShell or Python
Mandatory Qualifications & Requirements:A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business Information Systems, or equivalent (evidence required)
- Fluent English language skills
- Native speaker OR
- C2 Mastery/Proficiency certification for non-native speakers (if no certificate is available, fluency will be assessed during the interview stage)
- Full, clean driving license and access to own transport to attend meetings at the Wexford office when required
